The movie that made stars of ex-footballer Vinnie Jones and former Commonwealth Games diver Jason Statham while making director Ritchie’s blend of high-octane, post-Tarantino pulp fiction, Cockney swagger, and coal-black comedy into a name brand, London-set ensemble crime picture, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels starts with a rigged game of three-card brag, then sucks the viewer into a whirlwind of capers, cannabis, and general chaos. A work of exuberant style, with a coating of convincingly street tough back-alley grime on top.
