So Pretty
Two young queer couples in New York City—transgender artist Tonia and her American academic boyfriend Franz; transwoman musician Erika and her political radical partner Paul—find their daily lives gradually merging with the action of the novel So schön written in 1982 by German author Ronald M. Schernikau. Rovinelli’s warm, entrancing, blissed-out film, balanced on the border of documentary and fiction, depicts a loving community of mutual care barricading itself against an increasingly hostile world. “Describes a search for communal living and real resistance against rising fascism with a style as radical as its politics.”—Gay City News
